Admissions

Admissions to the school for Grades Pre-K 3 and Grades K through 8 is a three-step process (see below for instructions for UPK for 4-year-olds):

• First, parents must click here to complete an ADMISSIONS APPLICATION -- once you
  have submitted your admissions application and have been accepted, you will be invited to
  apply for Financial Assistance  (see Scholarships for more information);

• Second, parents must provide all required documents and meet academic requirements; and

• Third, parents must call us at (718) 324-1088 to schedule an interview at the school.

Following the interview and evaluation of the materials, parents will be notified about the admissions status of their child or children.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are applying for any UPK program, please do not use the Catholic Schools online application system. Please call the main office at (718) 324-1088 for directions, or follow the links below:

• Click here to apply for NYC Universal Pre-K/Pre-K for All through the Department of Education, New York City. The UPK site number for St. Barnabas Elementary School is: XASX11.
• Click here to apply for Yonkers Universal Pre-K through the city of Yonkers. 

For the 2026-27 school year: Our online Admissions Application opens on December 1, 2025 for students entering Pre-K 3 and 4, and Grades K through 8. The earlier qualifying families complete the Admissions application (including all required documents), the sooner they will receive decisions regarding acceptance, and be invited to apply for financial assistance (note: Pre-K students are not eligible for financial assistance).

For the 2025-26 school year: Admissions Applications can be submitted here. New students are continuously accepted.

For the 2026-27 school year:
3 year old Pre-K: must be 3 years old by: December 31, 2026
4 year old Pre-K: must be 4 years old by: December 31, 2026
Kindergarten: must be 5 years old by: December 31, 2026

For the 2025-2026 school year:
3 year old Pre-K: must be 3 years old by: December 31, 2025
4 year old Pre-K: must be 4 years old by: December 31, 2025
Kindergarten: must be 5 years old by: December 31, 2025
